During our Open Door Collective quarterly conference call today, Jen Vanek updated the group on the Digital Equity Act. As I posted a few months back, the act would encourage the creation of state digital equity plans and includes competitive implementation grants to address digital inclusion.
The National Digital Inclusion Alliance has now produced a slick website as a clearinghouse of information related to the act, including an overview of the need, statistics, a Fact Sheet, and a Social Media Kit. The Digital Equity Act aims to close the digital divide. No one in our communities should be left behind because they don’t have the skills needed to participate online. #DigitalEquityNow
