50:365 | Mom’s Friend

I found out tonight that my mom’s close friend, Mary Jean Goeres, died this week. Mary Jean and her husband raised their kids at the same time my parents were raising their “first” kids, and then they traveled with my mom and dad through the 1990s and early 2000s. This picture includes my mom and dad [front row] with Ted and Mary Jean Goeres [back row] and Frank and Shirley Groves [middle row] on a rafting trip on the Mendenhall River in Alaska on May 31, 1994. Check out mom’s face!

Mary Jean and Ted’s travel companions have long since passed away, but today was a reminder of the passing of an era. My condolences to the Goeres family.
